This will be Timothy’s ninth year showing at the Havana Gallery, 1212 Commercial Drive

This is continuation from the last show with emphasis on the rugged natural beauty and surroundings of Vancouver Landscapes coupled with a tribute to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games including a variety of winter sports themes.

The Lions Sleep Tonight...Lion's Gate Bridge at Dawn (Acrylic on Canvas)

Timothy presents a tribute painting… titled: “The Fat Bottomed Girls Bicycle Race”… to one of his favourite bands…Queen in Vancouver, B.C.

On April 13, 2006… the last stop for the Queen & Paul Rodgers world tour…Timothy presented Queen’s drummer…Roger Taylor…backstage with an original painting. The ” Fat Bottomed Girls Bicycle Race” is now at Roger’s home in England. The inspiration for this art piece came to Timothy when he was thinking of a sequal to his other crazy painting: “A Crack In The Road”… naturally when Clayton thought of bicycles, his mind jumped to Queen’s Jazz Lp with “Bicycle Race” along with the band’s other monster hit: “Fat Bottomed Girls”… joining the two songs visually just made sense (if you are “Stone Cold Crazy” as it were).

The best part of this experience was the fact that Roger Taylor was so warm and appreciative of the painting.

Roger was very genteel and thankful. His assistant, Justine, was fabulous…very professional… this made the experience all the richer.

Rock Trivia…Did you know that all of those super high falsetto opera voices on Queen hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody” are actually done by Queen’s drummer, Roger Taylor?

Timothy and his wife, Gina Chiarelli, talking with Roger in his dressing room about seeing Queen during the Freddie years three times before… the first time Timothy saw Queen live was in 1977… at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto with Thin Lizzy as the opening act.

The other very cool part of this experience was that we were given such great treatment… front row seats…amazing show…backstage passes…talk about a once-in-a-lifetime experience… It’s A Kind of Magic!

In case you missed the show…here are some pics from the front row! Of special note is how masterfully our WhiteRock native, Paul Rodgers, has done with the new lead vocals for Queen. They did not change any of the original keys to the songs! They also did excellent renditions of Bad Company hits and of course Free’s, “Alright Now”. Guitarist, Brian May, was…as always…brilliant. We especially loved the old photo shots on the big screen of Queen and Free.

Kilimanjaro where he made the summit on his birthday, July 23 at 6:15 am. The safari photos are from Ngoro Ngoro Crater, Serengeti and Masi Mara.

Timothy’s show will be at the Havana Gallery from Sunday, September 16 to Saturday, October 6.

We are very pleased to announce Timothy Clayton’s fourth annual solo art show…Fleurs de Joie et de Grace … (Flowers of Joy and Grace)… at the Havana Gallery, 1212 Commercial Drive. This show will feature approximately 30 new works… ‘Cathelinesque’ oil florals with rich colours and textures. The artist reception will be on Sunday, May 14 from 4pm to 7pm (Timothy will be there until 8pm)… please drop by and have a glass of wine. This show will be on display in the Havana Gallery from May 14 until June 3rd, 2006. Last year’s sales went very quickly… come early in order to get your choice of favourite art works. As was the case last year, if your favourite painting is already sold or you want something similar in a different size or colour…Timothy is happy to arrange commissioned works.

By the way, the Havana is an excellent location to have the full Commercial Drive cultural experience… they serve wonderful food, offer live theater and have the best patio going. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, May 14 at the artist reception.
